There are billions of people in the world today and for more than 95 per cent of the cases, people are generally healthier in the sense that they are not bedridden. However, some of these people who are not bedridden sometimes suffer from serious medical conditions that do not completely limit their movements but could slightly limit it or require that they regularly take drugs and supplements to survive. Examples of these groups of people include those suffering from not too severe levels of arthritis and high blood pressure among others. Beyond that is the fact that more than 70 per cent of people in the world are healthy and only fall ill occasionally. Furthermore, their type of illness is often not the severe type and they just spend a few dollars doing medical checkup and buying basic very affordable tablets that even if they have an active and robust insurance policy, they would not want to bother insurance company about such little charges.
For the people that fall within this healthy bracket, it is easy to feel as though health insurance is expensive and that they are just wasting their money. They are sometimes tempted to stop their health insurance policies and some go all the way to stop it. Some of the people who went ahead to stop their insurance policies have gotten away with it but many others have gone on to regret it.
Investing in health insurance or having an active health insurance policy even when you feel that it is expensive and you are not using it should not feel like a burden. In most cases, the premium that you are expected to pay regularly for your health insurance to remain active is often very affordable to the individual. With this, you should not make a big deal out of it to the extent of cancelling it. A lot of people after cancelling their health insurance have gone on to use the money as part of their normal monthly expenses without any significant effect on their standard of living even when they were paying the insurance premium. The fact that they did not divert the premium into their savings account but spent it inside made things all the more difficult when they suddenly fell ill.
Many things could change our lives in an instant. A lot of people who feel healthy have been living a very unhealthy lifestyle such as eating junks and taking a lot of sugar. Others consume a lot of alcohol or smoke. Over the years, they have been damaging their bodies in different ways without knowing until suddenly the effects come up in the form of diabetes or severely damaged lungs. They would be asked to pay a huge amount for insulin and other treatments for diabetes or for liver surgery, with the need to get a liver donor or buy one. In cases like this where the health insurance company would have been able to offset all or most of the bill, they would also have done away with their insurance policy.
Even in cases where the person has adopted a very healthy lifestyle: does not smoke, drink or consume a lot of sugar; many events could suddenly bring a person down. From epidemic breakouts to accidents, our health is threatened every day and you can be sure that you might need that health insurance policy at least once in your lifetime. Even if you never needed it, the peace of mind from knowing that you have running health insurance should you suddenly fall ill and need to pay a lot of money in premium should be enough encouragement to keep your health insurance active. All you just have to do is to make sure that your health insurance policy is with a reputable organization by reading reviews about health insurance providers before settling for a particular health insurance company.
